CaptAncestor
CaptAncestor is one of two games that were developed as part of the Game Development II course. Both projects are 3D multiplayer games that share a common framework and theme.
CaptAncestor is a multiplayer network capture-the-flag game which is set in an old, haunted castle. The difference to other capture-the-flag games is that the players (ghosts) cannot fight each other directly by the use of weapons, but only through traps that are strategically placed. Additionally, the ghosts can scare each other to push the opponents into the traps. The winner of the game is the team which has collected all the bones of its ancestor first.
Game Story:
It is the year 1584 in the old castle of St. Montia. Two feuding ghost families have been sharing this haunted place for more than 800 years. In the northern wing live the Crudgesmiths, while the Troulemasóns reside in the southern part of the castle. On a dark November evening, a scroll is found which says that one of the families will be released from its curse if it can acquire the bones of its ancestor. The other ghosts will be banished to remain forever in the castle. Therefore, both families attempt to get hold of their ancestor’s bones faster than their enemies can. But there is one little problem: the Crudgesmith’s ancestor is kept in the Troulemasón’s altar room and the bones of the Troulemasóns ancestor are situated in the Crudgesmith’s altar room. A tumultuous night full of sneaky traps and dirty tricks has just begun…
